Bonneville High School Speech and Debate is excited to invite you to the first Laker Middle School Tournament to kick off the Northern Utah Middle School Tournament Circuit.

Schedule

• 3:00-3:30pm: Registration

• 3:30-4:30pm: Speech and LD Round 1

• 3:30-5:00pm: Policy Round 1

• 4:45-5:45pm: Speech and LD Round 2

• 5:30-7:00pm: Policy Round 2

• 6:00-7:00pm: Speech and LD Round 3

• 7:30pm: Awards

Topics (Debate topics from UDCA):

LD: Resolved: Justice requires open borders for human migration.

Policy: The United States Federal Government should substantially increase fiscal redistribution in the United States by adopting a federal jobs guarantee, expanding Social Security, and/or providing a basic income.

Extemp: We will be using the September NSDA Extemp Questions

Judges

Teams are expected to provide 1 judge for every 2 debate entries and 1 judge for every 6 speech entries. Extra judges are always welcome and appreciated.

• We will be using online Tabroom Ballots. All judges need to be registered through Tabroom.

Cost

• $15 per team

• $4 per individual entry

Tabroom

• All postings will be made on Tabroom. There will be no printed postings. Please make sure that your student has a device through which they can access their posting. Or be prepared to access the postings and give them to students.

Concessions

• Concessions will be available for students. We have a wide variety of snacks available for purchase.
