Day-of Information

Debate: Registration will begin at 4:00 on Friday, hopefully ending by 4:30. Schools registering Friday that also have Speech entries should pay for their entire registration on Friday & confirm entries. Any drops Friday night going into Saturday morning should be texted to the Google voice number or confirmed early Saturday morning in Debate Tab.

Speech: Registration will begin at 8:00 on Saturday at Oakland Catholic for Speech-only schools.

Important Information

All judges must be up to date on child protection clearances AND have completed the NSDA Cultural Competency Training. This is available on the right side of Tabroom, under "Judging" --> "Judge Certifications"

This year, we will offer an Open Tabroom at both locations. Coaches should feel comfortable coming to Tabroom to learn about how the Tabroom.com software runs for tournaments, how we are running this tournament, or just to introduce themselves!

Information on where busses should go is forthcoming. Limited parking is available at Central Catholic.Only those who absolutely need parking (such as those with limited mobility) should park at Oakland Catholic. Students should be dropped off at Oakland Catholic, not parked.

Food. We will be serving dinner on Friday night at Central, and then light breakfast items, and lunch at both Central and Oakland on Saturday. Friday dinner is $10, and will consist of a buffalo chicken, or Italian wrap, chips, fruit, cookie, and drink. Saturday lunch is $6 and will consist of Chic Fil A chicken sandwich, chips, cookie, and drink. Veggie and gluten free options will be available on both days.

Belonging & Inclusion Advocates (BIAs) will be available in the Tabroom at both locations. For Debate, see John Hollihan. For Speech, see Mrs. Erin Wolf. BIAs address the following issues that may arise at competition:

  • Perceived discriminatory practice on the basis of (but not limited to) race/color, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity/expression, age, disability, sexual orientation, and/or veteran or military status.
  • Perceived retaliation, harassment, or intimidation due to an individual’s filing of a complaint or participating in an intake regarding a violation of the NSDA’s harassment and discrimination policies.
