This track is open to anyone who is new to debate and/or uncertain about how they would like to engage. All formats of debate will be discussed, as well as a general introduction to the activity. | |

Description | Students will learn about the basic mechanics of argument formation and refutation, and also learn about the various formats of debate that they can choose between. |

SESSION 2 - 12:15pm - 1:45pm | Flowing Tutorial |
Description | Debates are tracked using a flowsheet or "flow" and this is the basis for how debates are evaluated. Students will learn how to keep track of arguments during a debate, and the importance of responding to each of the opponent's arguments. |

SESSION 3 - 2:00pm - 3:30pm | PF Demo Debate |
Description | Students will have an opportunity to observe a full demonstration debate on the current Public Forum topic. The demonstration debate will be conducted by varsity team members. The purpose of the demonstration debate is to showcase an example of what a competition round looks like. There will be a Q&A session after the debate has concluded. |
