This track is intended for students who are new to debate or have middle school experience with debate, but know they would like to participate in the Public Forum format. | |

SESSION 1 - 9:30am - 11:00am | Public Forum Mechanics |
Description | Students will learn about the format, structure, rules and roles of a Public Forum debate. Students will learn about how to plan for each portion of the debate and the role of evidence and prior research in constructing and refuting arguments. |

Description | Students will learn about the history and controversies surrounding this year's first Public Forum resolution. Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially expand its surveillance infrastructure along its southern border. |

SESSION 3 - 2:00pm - 3:30pm | PF Demo Debate |
Description | Students will have an opportunity to observe a full demonstration debate on the current Public Forum topic. The demonstration debate will be conducted by varsity team members. The purpose of the demonstration debate is to showcase an example of what a competition round looks like. There will be a Q&A session after the debate has concluded. |
