Event Description:
Mixed Extemperaneous (Domestic and Foreign)
Extemporaneous Speaking, typically called "extemp," is a speech on current events with limited preparation time and is currently only offered in middle school. Students are presented with a choice of six questions related to national and international current events. The student has 20 minutes to prepare a 4-minute speech answering the selected question. Students may consult articles and evidence they gather prior to the contest and may use the Internet during preparation.
Round 1 will be questions pulled from US: President Biden administration and COVID-19
Round 2 will be questions pulled from Foreign: COVID-19 and Turkey
Round 3 will be mixed questions from US and Foreign: Politics, energy, and economics
