Expository - Novice

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. The purpose of an expository speech is to describe, clarify or explain an object, idea or process.

2. The speech is delivered as a presentation or demonstration (8:30 time limit), not “theatrically” or as a performance.

3. Speech must be speaker’s original work; may be delivered from memory or from notes; scripts are not allowed.

4. The use of visual aids is encouraged, but not required; speaker is not to be penalized if no visual aids are used.

5. On the score sheet, make real-time notes, with comments, note time & choose a tentative ranking.
