Declamation

Event Description:

Declamation:

Declamation is a speech event in which a competitor memorizes and performs a previously performed speech. This can be inaugural addresses, ted talks, or even motivational speeches. The speech should be between 5-10 minutes, with a 30 second grace period over or under time. Competitors should be judged on their ability to deliver the speech clearly and how well they can create a performance. Declamation is more than simply reciting the speech, competitors can take creative liberty with the delivery and movements while presenting the speech. It should be noted that competitors who are not memorized i.e. reading off of phones or papers cannot place 1st in the room.
